Daily News: Zoned yet couldn't get pre-k spot?

The Daily News is working on a story about the DOE's plans, and will be interviewing and photographing at P.S. 9 tomorrow Thursday January 13th at 9:00 am. We need a strong turnout of P.S. 9 parents so the photo will convey the strength of our community and get our message across! Parents, please make signs and posters declaring your support for PS9 — some ideas for signs are "Protect P.S. 9!" and "Let P.S. 9 Grow!" But please express yourselves! PLEASE MEET AT 9:00 AM IN FRONT OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE - 80 Underhill Avenue — and bring your signs!

The reporter, Ben Chapman (who also wrote about our Book Hive opening) is looking to speak with parents:
1) whose child was denied a spot in the G&T program because no slots were available;
2) who could not get a pre-K spot for their child (in-zone family would be ideal);
3) who have moved to the neighborhood because they have heard good things about P.S. 9.

Anyone willing to speak about their personal experience with these issues can call Ben directly at 646-509-4201 — he must speak with parents
early in the day on Thursday, Jan 13 in order to make his deadline. (If you would like to speak to a press outreach coordinator before or after speaking to a reporter, please call/text Michelle French at 646-552-4600.)
